The National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS) provides access to and exchange of driver and vehicle information between States and Territories in Australia, and maintains the national VIN database and the national Written Off Vehicle Register (WOVR) database.
Austroads, the association of Transport Agencies in Australia and New Zealand has the responsibility for NEVDIS. Operation of the NEVDIS application began in 1998 and in the intervening twelve years, NEVDIS has grown in value and relevance to members with the result that NEVDIS is now a critical part of the registration and licensing processes in every jurisdiction.
NEVDIS’s current managed services contract ceased in August 2012. A project was established to manage the transition from current arrangements to an improved managed services arrangement.
The services provided by BSR Solutions included; developing business requirements and an RFT for this service, defining the tender response assessment criteria, leading the contract negotiation process, developing and negotiating a managed service contract, and advising on an effective transition plan to ensure a smooth transition from the current to the new managed service provider.
The assignment was completed on time and within budget. The process resulted in a successful contract being negotiated, with increased outsourced supplier accountability, new value-added services from the supplier, and reduced contract pricing.
