In June 2009, MAA appointed BSR Solutions to develop their detailed Business Requirement specifications for the replacement or upgrade of their existing Personal Injuries Register (PIR) and to prepare a Business Case supporting the recommended option for investment. This mission critical system was proving difficult to maintain, subject to increasing demands for upgrades, poorly documented, and perceived by most users as no longer meeting the current business demands of both MAA and key stakeholders. The Business Requirement Specification developed was designed to form part of the documentation necessary to test the market and evaluate potential solutions.
MAA’s unique business needs as Regulator of the NSW CTP Insurance Scheme shaped the final outcome of the solution available to the Authority. Unlike many organisations, MAA did not have a requirement to maintain the source data in their own system. Claims data is supplied to MAA via electronic updates from the individual CTP Insurers’ systems. Therefore, MAA did not require all the functionality traditionally associated with a standard Insurance Claim Processing and Case Management system.
